Trail: Caney Fork, in Jackson County east of Sylva, NC.

MEETING POINTS:

The meeting point will be 9:30 Saturday morning at Wal-Mart in Sylva.  Wal-Mart is located at 1230 East Main Street, Sylva, NC 28779.

The PLAN

Head for the trail at 10:00.

We will try to break in to groups, to allow differing comfort and skill levels an opportunity to meet their needs as well as an opportunity to try different routes. Please remember that if you are going to go with the more adventurous you must have your own recovery equipment.

A night ride for those who are interested.

For those not camping, plan on about three hours to get back down?

Break camp about 9:30 Sunday morning and be back to the black top by noon
Some folks may camp Sunday night as well. Check out the Old North State message board to find out more.

If you want to talk with other drivers while on the trail, most people are using FRS instead of CB.

Directions

To Sylva from the Asheville area:

Take I-40 West to Exit 27 (US-19/US-23 toward Waynesville).

Take US-23 South to Exit 85 at Sylva (US-23 Business toward Cullowhee).

Turn left onto NC-107 East.

CAMPING/LODGING:

We will be camping on the mountain, if you would like to join us.  There is lodging in the area, last year some folks stayed at the Comfort Inn in Sylva Comfort Inn.  Their rates are around $69 per night.  Someone suggested the Balsam Mountain Inn located between Sylva and Waynesville Balsam Inn info here.

Everyone should bring their own lunch to eat on the trails.  Campers will of course need dinner and breakfast.

Let us know if you have any questions.

 Happy Rovering!
